Molyko Stadium Director summoned over assault of female reporter in Buea

The director of the Molyko Omnisport stadium in Buea, South West region is set to answer for the assault of a female reporter last week.

Njonge Mbua was summoned in a letter signed by Judicial Police commissioner, Ndeh M Sambah on May 25, 2022.

Going by the letter making rounds online, he is expected to present himself on Monday May 31st at 10:00 AM.

Journalist Macdela Eyong was assaulted as she sought entry into the stadium to cover a football game.

She was battered and dragged on the ground by security forces, believed to have been acting at the behest of the stadium director.

A few days after the incident, images of the female reporter who too is press officer for a football club in Tiko surfaced online.

She has been receiving medical aid from injuries sustained from the attack.

Following the incident, multiple associations of pressmen and sports reporters called for action against the assaulters.

They also threatened to boycott FECAFOOT activities if authorities remain silent over the issue.
