Monkey pox kills one in East region

There is an outbreak of monkey pox in the East region of Cameroon.

In a release signed on Monday 13th January 2020 by the East regional delegate of public health, one death has been recorded at the moment as a result of monkey pox virus.

According to Cameroon Info news site, one person died of monkey pox on the 9th of January 2020 in Ayos health centre in the East region of Cameroon.

In the release signed by Dr. Anicet Desire Mintop, he specified that the disease is caused by monkey pox virus. It is transmittable to man either through direct or indirect contact.

The regional delegate is calling on medical officials in Abong Mbang, Nguelemendouka, Messamena and the entire region to pay particular attention to patients that present symptoms of monkey pox in their health districts.

Mr. Abong also stresses that children are the most vulnerable.
