There are fears of more arrests at the Cameroon Development Cooperation-CDC due to the alleged disappearance of palm oil worth over 800,000,000 FCFA (Eight hundred million francs cfa) – close to 1.5 Million US Dollars from the Iloani palm oil factory in the South West region of Cameroon.
A reliable source speaking to Mimi Mefo Info on the basis of anonymity says Mr. Forteh Vincent, financial director; Fossah Peter, former security Manager and Mr. Zingwa, a security guard have been in detention in Buea for five days for the disappearance of the palm oil amounting to over 800 million Francs cfa.
As security forces embark on an in-depth investigation on the issue, a CDC worker says “the oil was stolen by government security forces under the leadership of a certain inspector of Police Eva Eva Vincent”.
To the source, the three CDC workers arrested did not have access to the factory between 2018 and 2019 as a result of insecurity. He adds that police inspector Eva Eva Vincent has vowed to implicate officials of the CDC despite the fact that security men under his care committed the act following his instruction.
Mimi Mefo Info cannot independently confirm the allegations against the police inspector.
All efforts to get him react have so far failed.
As the Anglophone crisis worsened between 2018 and 2019, several CDC workers abandoned work for their safety. Government therefore deployed security forces to guard equipment and other valuables from being destroyed by separatist fighters who had been attacking workers of the corporation.
The war crippled the largest palm oil production plantation in Cameroon forcing workers to go for over twenty two months without salary.
