Morocco eliminated from Women’s World Cup after 4-0 defeat by France

On Tuesday, France advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s World Cup after a 4-0 win over Morocco.

Co-hosts Australia, who beat Denmark 2-0 on Monday, will now face the French team.

France scored three goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game, with Kadidiatou Diani, who scored a hat trick against Panama, scoring her fourth goal in two games when she was left unguarded in the 15th minute.

Morocco was the only African team in the tournament after Nigeria was eliminated on Monday.

Le Sommer scored in the 23rd minute after Nesryne El Chad failed to clear the ball from her own byline. Diani had previously assisted Kenza Dali in the 20th minute.

The experienced attacker finished off her brace with a clinical finish in the 70th minute, sealing the victory for France.

Morocco was the only first-time participant to make it past the round of 16.
