Ngala Gerald, MP for Nkambe
The mother of Ngala Gerald, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkambe central constituency, has been kidnapped, according to reports. The incident allegedly occurred on the night of Monday, August 26, at their residence in Bondu, Tabenken, a village in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division, located in the Northwest region.
The abduction is believed to have been carried out by suspected Ambazonian separatist fighters. Ngala Gerald, the MP, is known for his staunch opposition to the separatist movement.
“Ngala Gerald’s mum was taken away from Tabenken last night, 26th August, at about 9 pm by unknown gunmen,” a source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed MMI.
No separatist group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, and the motive behind targeting the MP’s mother remains unclear.
Tabenken, once relatively peaceful, has recently seen an uptick in separatist-related activities, MMI has learned. Businessmen in the area have been increasingly targeted, with reports of robberies and kidnappings for ransom becoming more frequent.
Locals believe these separatist fighters are infiltrating the area from their base in Luh, a locality in Ndu Subdivision.
