“Mothers of Nation” denounce violence, call for political transition

The group christened “Mothers of Nation” has condemned the continuous indifference of the regime to the plight of women and Cameroonians in general.

“The survival of Cameroonians is at stake and therefore it’s not time for people not to stay quiet, ” Bar. Michelle Ndoki, a member of the group has stated in a press conference in Douala Friday, March 5th, 2021.

Holding on the heels of International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8th, members of the platform called on women and Cameroonians to go back to the original meaning of International Women’s Day which is that of fighting for the rights of women and people in general for them to live a better life.

Bar. Michelle Ndoki addressing women says “Women’s day is not to celebrate but to ask that violence should stop and the present regime should quit. It’s time everyone needs to say no to violence orchestrated by a regime which enjoys seeing Cameroonians in pain”.

To Edith Kah Walla; member of the platform and president of Cameroon People’s Party, Mothers of Nation since 2017 has carried out several non-violence activities in Cameroon aimed at showing how disgruntle women are with the present leadership.

She adds that non-violent actions to call for the political transition will continue until the forty years regime quit and a political transition ushered. “We women, men, children and everyone one needs to come out in black on March 8th. This is an occasion to show how we are tired. We are tired of killings in all parts of Cameroon, high standard of living, insecurity, inadequate provision of basic necessities like water, electricity, health care, and many more “

“Mothers of Nation” is calling on Cameroonians to dress in black and join in an ecumenical service Monday, March 8th to pray for the souls of those that have died or killed due to the government’s incompetence.
