MPs Ignore Major National Dialogue Concerns In November Session

The November session of parliament is underway at the glass house in Yaounde where the speaker of the National assembly has ignored the outcome of the major national dialogue in the course of setting the agenda for the session.
Addressing MPs without those of the social democratic front SDF party, Cavaye Djibril focused on the nature of a 2020 budget that MPs expect from members of government.

The house speaker called on the government to draft a budget that takes into consideration National and international assignments of Cameroon in 2020. To him, Cameroon will host the CHAN in 2020 , CAN in 2021, organize twin elections in 2020, and a draft budget must be reflective of the financial demands of these events.

The house speaker in his opening message failed to highlight the outcome of the major national dialogue in Cameroon, notably discussions on the form of the special status accorded the North West and South West regions.

The MP also did not mention the financial requirements to implement the resolutions of the commission in charge of reconstruction and resettlement of war victims, which ended the major national dialogue recommending a whooping sum of money to this effect.

The November session of parliament opened with the conspicuous absence of MPs of the social democratic front SDF party, who are demanding the implementation of the resolutions of the major national dialogue as a precondition for their participation at the session.
