MRC protest paralysis Businesses in Mabanda- Douala

Over twenty protesters have been arrested and taken to an unknown destination. The protesters stormed Mabanda Market at Douala 4 September 22nd 2020 demanding the departure of president Paul Biya from power.

The protesters are mainly militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) party and other parties supporting the departure of the regime.

Following the situation, most traders have abruptly close their shops returning to their houses for fear of the unknown.

At Mambada quarter, most business places remain lock since the early hours of today. ” The presence of military men everywhere has frightened me. So the best thing is just to stay home”. A resident confesses.

Military men have been positioned in different places at Mabanda; a neighbourhood predominantly inhabited by Cameroonians from the North West and South West regions.
