Mysterious fire consumes fuel station, vehicles in Mamfe

An enormous fire outbreak in Mamfe, Southwest region, this evening has destroyed a fuel station belonging to the Total Energies and damaged vehicles packed at the area.

A Mamfe resident who witnessed the fire outbreak told MMI that it was likely caused by a fuel vehicle that had just arrived at the filling station.

Locals watched helplessly as the fuel station burned, with no fire fighting unit in sight.

Many of such fire outbreaks in Cameroon are usually quenched by passersby as fire fighting units are hardly close enough to promptly handle emergencies.

A similar fire set by separatist fighters consumed the Mamfe District Hospital last year.
