Mystery in Mbouda: 16-year-old boy jumps into 30-meter well, body yet to be found

In another strange occurrence in the town of Mbouda in Cameroon’s West region, a 16-year-old boy, Erwan is reported to have fallen into a well estimated to be at least 30 meters deep.

It happened on Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the evening hours under the helpless gaze of his grandmother.

“He was at the well. Then all of a sudden, I just saw him throw himself into the well. I thought I did not see well but one moment he was standing there and all of a sudden, he just disappeared into the well… I had to rush to the house while crying out for people to come and rescue Erwan from the well,” the boy’s grandmother recounted.

The firefighting brigade was alerted about the incident. Canal 2 International TV reports that despite hours of thorough search down the deep well, they have been unable to find or recover the body of the young boy. The authorities have now ordered that the well be temporarily sealed while the search for the boy continues.
