Nachtigal Hydroelectric Dam: final Construction phase begins

The Nachtigal hydroelectric dam, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Cameroon, has entered its final phase of construction. The dam, which is located on the Sanaga River in the Centre Region of Cameroon, is expected to be completed in 2024.

The Nachtigal dam is a key part of Cameroon’s efforts to increase its electricity production. Once completed, official say, the dam will have a capacity of 420 megawatts, which will account for 30% of Cameroon’s total electricity production.

The construction of the Nachtigal dam has been a major undertaking by the Biya government. The dam is being built by a consortium of companies led by Electricité de France (EDF). The project has also received financial support from the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

The construction of the Nachtigal dam has had a significant impact on the local community. The dam has displaced thousands of people, and it has also caused environmental damage. However, the government of Cameroon has pledged to mitigate the negative impacts of the dam saying the benefits of the dam will outweigh the costs.

The completion of the Nachtigal dam is a major milestone for Cameroon. The dam will help to improve the country’s energy security and it will also boost economic growth. The dam is also a symbol of Cameroon’s commitment to sustainable development.

The Nachtigal dam is the largest hydroelectric project in Cameroon’s history. The dam is expected to create thousands of jobs during construction and operation. This will help to reduce Cameroon’s reliance on imported energy.
