A 32-year-old man named Mahaman Laouli, who was arrested among those suspected of killing six family members in Nanga-Eboko, Centre Region, has reportedly committed suicide.
Laouli is said to have strangled himself to death at the Regional Judicial Police Division of the Centre Region, where he was detained alongside other suspects.
Reports reaching MMI say the young man of Nigerian origin had informed the custody officers that he wanted to relieve himself in the toilets.
While at the supposed toilet, he is said to have strangled himself to death with a rope.
His body was later evacuated from the police station.
He was among many people arrested in connection with the murder of Youmbi Vanessa, a 31-year-old woman who was killed and mutilated at Nanga-Eboko last week.
She was found dead in the house alongside her children and cousins.
Names of those who were killed with her include: Samira Cheukeme, Dorekasse Waffou, Angel Kamedong, Arenowle Talla, and Blessing Mortue.
