There is uneasy calm in Foumban, Noun Division in the West Region of Cameroon. Locals are calling for the transfer of the SDO, Donatien Boyomo on accusations of standing against the Mayor’s ambition to put in place council security men. December 15th is the deadline given to contractors to complete road construction work at the east entrance to the city of Douala. The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Njoumessi said the deadline is to complete the work before the start of CHAN 2021.

Mission schools are progressively shutting down in Ngokentujia Division, North West Region. Inhabitants say the SDO, Kwetong Anderson Konghe, is ordering the closure while calling on pupils and students to attend government schools. A move they consider a violation of their rights.

The mortal remains of late Giresse have been removed from the Mbouda District Hospital Mortuary for burial today. Giresse was killed in an unfortunate building collapse on October 20, 2020 in Toumaka, West Region. He was buried today in his native village Bamepaa, in Babadjou.

The Fako land grabbing mafia that has been going on for years has finally gotten the attention of the presidency. The note from the presidency today instructed local government authorities in the Fako Divison, together with the Minister of Property and Land Tenure to halt all land transaction deals in the Region.

Cameroon referee, Alioum Sidi was subjected to racist slurs in Morocco as he officiated a football match. 17 senior judges from the three chambers of the Supreme Court have today gone on official retirement. They were given a goodbye ceremony at the Supreme Court. Amongst the new retirees are the President of the Social Section of the Judicial Chamber, the President of the Tax and Financial Disputes and the pioneering President of the Common Law Section.

Over 626kg of ivory tusks were today seized in Ambam in the Ntem Valley. The trafficker who is from Gabon, carefully concealed the goods in a van. He was arrested by the Cameroonian Customs and handed over to the Gendarmerie. The amount of elephant tusks he carried showed that at least 59 elephants were slaughtered for it to be extracted.

The High Court in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, has handed an influential former cabinet minister, Uladi Mussa, a five-year sentence for the abuse of his office. Mussa had been arrested for his role in aiding foreign nationals fraudulently acquire a Malawian passport and citizenship when he served as home affairs minister under former President Joyce Banda.

Police in Tanzania have confirmed that more than 300 armed men from Mozambique raided a village in southern Tanzania, killing a number of locals. It is the first time the Tanzanian authorities have publicly acknowledged the presence militants from Mozambique in the country. Northern Mozambique is in the grip of a militant Islamist insurgency that has claimed more than 1,500 lives.

An unknown number of prisoners escaped from a prison in Delta state, southern Nigeria, amid heavy shooting from security operatives, police have told the BBC Pidgin service. The jailbreak in Warri began after people tried to force their way into the facility. In another incident, dozens of inmates are reported to have escaped from a jail in Ondo state after it came under attack.

The high court in Lagos island, the city’s oldest neighbourhood, was set ablaze. Residents said the building was looted by vandals who took away goods that had been confiscated by the court, and that the fire lasted long into the night.
