A hospital has been burnt in Tole Buea sub division in the South west region of Cameroon. Residents say the act was committed by restoration forces. The area of recent has become a battle ground between soldiers and fighters.
At least six houses have been set ablaze at mile 20 in Bafut. Victims are accusing the military for carrying out the act. Residents say amba boys launched an attack on the military after felling down trees to stop them from escaping. The military is reported to have later vented their anger on the local population.
Lectures were interrupted at the University of Bamenda in the North West region of Cameroon this morning. This followed a shooting confrontation between amba boys and the military.
Jean Marie Tchakui has taken over office as the Senior divisional officer of Kupe Manengouba division in the South West. He replaces Augustin Keyantio. The Governor of the South West Bernard Okalia Bilai in Bangem today called on the administrator to maintain security and development of the area. Kupe Manengouba has been under the weight of epileptic power supply and poor telephone connection.
Two hundred million francs cfa is the amount president Paul Biya has disbursed to assist victims of Bafoussam landslide in the West region. The money is to help resettle displaced persons and burry the deads. Government is equally ensuring the free treatment of wounded persons in the disaster.
The death toll has risen to over 42 following the landslide in Bafoussam.The search at the site is still ongoing. Residents of Gouche quarter where the landslide occurred have blame heavy rains for the disaster. The minister of housing and urban development has ordered people to evacuate the area for safety.
