Professor Maurice Kamto has planted a peace plant at the site of a landslide in Gouache Bafoussam in the West Region of Cameroon. The leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement political party visited victims of the Gouache landslide today. Hundreds of people came out in Bafoussam and other villages around to welcome Maurice Kamto.
Some victims of Gouache landslide say they have not had places to resettle with their families almost two weeks after the incident. They attest to the fact that they have not yet received any financial assistance from the state despite the 200 million francs CFA announced by the president of the Republic. Meanwhile. PM Dion Ngute is to preside over a ceremony to pay homage to those who died in the landslide this Saturday, November 9th.
The Divisional Officer of Douala V has banned a political rally planned for Saturday, November 9th by the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party. The DO of Douala 5 indicates that the rally scheduled to take place at Petite Terrain Bonamoussadi, Douala V cannot take place because it threatens the security of the area. The rally is expected to see Professor Maurice Kamto, leader of the CRM party, address his militants for the first time since his release from prison.
Circulation of people and vehicles was interrupted for over two hours this evening at Nchoubou and other neighbouring quarters in Bamenda II. This follows a gun battle between Ambazonia restoration forces and the Cameroon military.
Some places at Mboko quarter, Douala III are showing signs of a potential landslide. Inhabitants say some of their houses are today standing in risk zones as the raining season continues in Douala. When asked if they can quit for safety, they complained of no money to resettle elsewhere.

A part of Tchollire District hospital in the Mayo-Rey, North region of Cameroon has been reduced to ashes. A fire incident reduced the hospital laboratory and part of the patient’s ward to ashes on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019. The source of the fire incident is still unknown.
A 25-year old female student has been found dead in the river Mfoundi, Yaoundé. It is uncertain if she was killed and her body dumped in the River. Family members, however, say she went missing since November 3rd. She was a medical student at a private University in Yaoundé

The International Criminal Court in the Hague has sentenced the former Congolese warlord, Bosco Ntaganda, to 30 years in prison. He was convicted in July of 13 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. His offences include rape, sexual slavery and ordering massacres of civilians in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Bosco Ntaganda surrendered to the ICC in 2013 when he walked into the US embassy in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
The bodies of at least 12 gold miners have been recovered following a mudslide in an abandoned gold mine in Kithinian, a gold mining town east of Guinea’s capital, Conakry. Local authorities say they fear more bodies remain trapped underground but say they aren’t sure how many.

At least 500 people have been killed and nearly half a million people are internally displaced.
There have been 1.5 million new malaria cases recorded in Burundi in the past two months as the country grapples with an outbreak that the UN says has reached epidemic proportions. The WHO says there have been more than seven million cases of the disease and nearly 2,700 deaths from malaria since the beginning of the year.
