Two young men are to be buried in Bum Fonfuka subdivision Boyo division of the North West Region of Cameroon, after being summarily executed by soldiers. Local sources say they were accused by the population of stealing household utensils, before being handed over to soldiers who executed them between Mesaje and Fonfuka.

Some children have become orphans in Taku village in Ndu subdivision of the North West Region of Cameroon, following the assassination of their father by the Cameroon defence and security forces. According to local sources, soldiers stormed the village Thursday, December 13th, 2019 and threatened his wife to produce him or have their house set on fire.  The wife eventually bowed to pressure and when he came out of the hideout, soldiers took him to a public square and executed him through a firing squad.

The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Pastor of Faith Baptist Church Ndop in Ngoketunja Division, North West Region of Cameroon no longer has a car.  His vehicle was burnt by separatist fighters at the 3 corners Bamali in Ngoketunja. Locals say the Separatist fighters were reacting to the killing of some of their elements by soldiers on Wednesday.

Calm is yet to return to Buabua, Bum subdivision, Boyo Division of the North West region following a gun battle between the Defence and Security forces of Cameroon and Southern Cameroon Restoration forces.

Firefighters today rescued the office of the SDO for Moungo in Nkongsamba from ravaging flames. The fire incident resulted from an electric circuit, according to local sources.

Circulation has resumed at Mujuku, closer to Mbanga in the Moungo Division of the Littoral region, after a road accident that obstructed circulation for several hours. A tanker transporting fuel overturned in the middle of the National road No5, blocking circulation on both ends, but no human loss was recorded.

The governor of the Littoral region says the action of a few misguided police officers in Douala cannot be compared to the tremendous work most of them do day and night to secure the city from bandits.  Dieudonne Ivaha Diboa was speaking in Douala while presiding over a ceremony promoting deserving police officers.

The body of Ekema Patrick Esunge has been returned to the Buea regional hospital mortuary after a brief exposure at the council and family residence. The former Mayor of Buea will be buried tomorrow Saturday.  He died on the 27th of October 2019 in Douala.

Liberia’s 77,000-strong civil service workforce has announced a nationwide strike beginning on Monday to demand salary arrears. The announcement was made on Thursday evening after civil service union leaders and government officials failed to broker a deal.

The president of Niger has paid tribute to the 71 soldiers who were killed on Tuesday in the country’s worst-ever jihadist attack. At a military airbase in the capital Niamey, Mahamadou Issoufou described the incident as a “dark day” and a “terrible ordeal” for the army.

Ethiopia is set to receive $3bn (£2.2bn) from the World Bank for “macroeconomic, structural and sectoral reforms”, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said. He also mentioned investment from the UAE and Saudi Arabia but did not go into more detail. “This reaffirms both governments’ and donors’ partnership to transition Ethiopia to a prosperous and peaceful nation,” Mr Abiy wrote on Friday.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune has won Algeria’s presidential election with 58% of the vote, the national electoral body says quoting preliminary results. It also confirmed that voter turnout was just 40% – the lowest ever for a multi-party election in Algeria. The polls had been boycotted by people in the protest movement who said all the candidates were too close to former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and wanted the political establishment swept away for a new kind of politics.

A church in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, has warned its congregants against wearing “inappropriate church attire”, the Daily Nation newspaper reports. St Peter’s Claver Catholic Church in the city centre has hung a notice on its entrance with photos of 10 kinds of clothing that should not be worn by worshippers. They include miniskirts, dresses with slits, ripped jeans, T-shirts inscribed “Red Devil”, crop tops, caps, sunglasses, chains, clothing that exposes arms and sagged trousers.

The wife of Sudan’s ousted President Omar al-Bashir, Widad Babiker, has been summoned for questioning over possession of land and bank accounts, Arabic-language website Baj News reports. Mrs Babiker who has been under house arrest since the ousting of her husband on 11 April was taken to the prosecution office on Thursday.

A bride-to-be has died after tripping and falling into a well at her bridal shower in Danbatta, northern Nigeria. Fatima Abubakar, 16, was set to tie the knot with her fiancé on Thursday. Her father told the BBC that she was standing very close to the well when the accident happened at her aunt’s home on Wednesday, where she was celebrating with friends.
