National Printing Press workers on strike over poor working conditions

Workers of the National Printing Press in Yaounde, capital city of Cameroon are on strike over poor working conditions.

According to the workers, the equipment meant to facilitate their work at the National Printing Press has been down for the past two months.

“There is no production here, everything is wrong everywhere,” a worker said.

However, the company’s Director General, Paul Walter, through a phone call with Vision 4 Television refuted the allegations advanced by the workers.

He said, “The machines are not old…”

The deduction of union dues and the non-support of workers by the Social Insurance Fund are some of the worries expressed by the workers.

However, the Director General who according to reports has been on a sick leave for months regretted that the institution has faced some limitations due to a delay in administrative procedure.

He equally encouraged the workers to endeavor to go “back to work”.

Having written a complaint to the Minister of Communication, the workers have maintained that they will resume work only when they get a reply from the latter.
