Ndop laments prolonged absence of rain

Farmers and graziers in Ndop, Ngokentujia division in the North West region of Cameroon are looking up to God to “pour” down rain for a veritable start of the farming season.

Imam Modibo Saido of the Ndop Central Mosque preaching on Saturday April 24th 2021 prayed for rainfall.

“Allah should forgive us for all the crimes committed and let the rain fall” he pleaded.

The Muslim spiritual leader preaching at the time Muslim are fasting in the month of Ramadan insisted that “… people should repent and stop sins like fornication, telling lies, stealing as a means to stop the wrath of God”.

Crops earlier planted by farmers in some parts of the division have withered following a prolong absence of rain.

“We don’t know if to plant again or wait until the rain falls. How long are we going to wait?” a local farmer questions.

The absence steady rain to help crops germinate well has also been reported in several parts of the North West region.

Ngokentujia division is one of the areas hit by the anglophone crisis.

Because of insecurity, some people have fled the locality while farmers are not sure of going to their farms regularly following activities of separatists and the military.
