The Divisional Officer for Ndu in the North West region has been called out for disrespecting a court decision over a disputed piece of land.
After years of conflict between Ntumbaw and Njirong villages over the fertile Mbawrong piece of land, a court decision had ceded the area to Njirong.
Unlike his predecessor who respected the court’s decision, the current D.O. has once more permitted villagers of Ntumbaw to ‘invade’ the land. The said villagers burnt down houses in the area, and are said to be insisting on farming on the land.
It should be recalled that in March 2021, a second court ruling maintained that the land belonged to Njirong.
The recent invasion by Ntumbaw natives has once more sparked conflict, and is worsened by the silence of the D.O. who had last year tried to cede the said land to Ntumbaw instead.
Many have cited the D.O.’s action and now silence as linked to personal game, and are calling in hierarchy to restore order in the disputed area, as well as call the ‘recalcitrant’ administrator to order.
