Newly-sworn UNGA President appoints Cameroonian Cabinet Director

The President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Philemon Yang, has appointed a fellow Cameroonian as his Director of Cabinet.

Ivo Richard Fung was appointed shortly after the former Prime Minister of Cameroon took oath of office as President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

Mr Yang described Ivo Richard Fung as “a dedicated and accomplished professional who will be a valuable asset to the UNGA.”

He is expected in his new role to assist Mr Yang in the implementation of his vision as ceremonial head of the United Nations.

Before his new role, Fung had served the UN system in areas of governance, peace and disarmament.

He holds a PhD in Political Science and is a native of Aghem, in Menchum Division of Cameroon’s North West region.
