Doctors Without Borders, DWB, has ceased operations in the SoUth West region. Announcing the move today, it said it was as a result of continuous false accusation of cooperating with separatists by government. All attempts to have government prove the claims it said, failed.



Many have expressed sadness following Doctors Without Borders’ decision to leave the South West Region. Coming months after government suspended it in the North West Region, they say the move will only leave more vulnerable persons at the mercy of the armed conflict. Many others serving as employees and volunteers too they bemoan, will be left unemployed.


Infighting between separatist factions in Bui Division, North West region has left at least two dead and many more injured. Among one of the casualties was a self-styled general. Bui has been one of the most active divisions in the armed conflict since it erupted in 2016.


The Ministers of Public Health and Water and Energy Resources today visited the South West region in the wake of the cholera outbreak. They visited different towns in the regions inspecting hospitals and water sources. The South West Region has recorded the most number of cases since the outbreak.


Colleagues and loved ones of a teacher killed in Wabane, Lebialem division of the South West region are demanding justice. Islanti Leku, 31 was shot dead before his wife and kids by men believed to be separatist fighters. Teachers have largely been victims of the armed conflict, often decrying poor treatment from both government and separatist fighters.


A date has been set for the ordination of the new Mamfe Bishop, Aloysius Abangalo Fondong. It was announced that he will be ordained in a Pontifical Mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral Church of Mamfe on May 5. He was appointed on February 22nd, 2022 by Pope Francis.



A gun battle was recorded in Bachongwa in the North West region today, leaving residents scurrying for safety in the bushes. Locals say separatist fighters set off two explosives and attacked a military convoy, causing the exchange for many hours. It remains uncertain if any casualties were recorded.
