Two boys have died Gashiga in the outskirts of Garoua, North region while digging a well. Ground sand which they had dug is said to have collapsed and buried them Saturday March 12 leaving onlookers in shock. Firefighters later spent three hours to remove the corpses and handed to families for burial.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested by law enforcement officers in the town of Nkongsamba, Moungo division of the Littoral region five bags loaded with marijuana. The suspect, popularly known as a carpenter was intercepted as he transported the cargo concealed inside a truck transporting food items. He is currently under detention.

Some personnel who worked at the Olembe Stadium construction site have spoken out against the Magil Construction company for not paying them. According to the workers, the company has deserted the construction site, leaving behind construction material without paying them. They are now demanding their remuneration from the company as soon as possible.

Health Minister, Dr Manaouda Malachie has taken charge of the hospital bill of a lady who gave birth to five children at the Yaounde Central Hospital. The Minister also congratulated health personnel for ensuring the lady’s delivery of five kids was successful.

Primary school teachers today joined their counterparts of secondary education in the ongoing strike action. They have also vowed not to return to classrooms until they get all that is owed them.

Meanwhile the secondary school teachers’ strike has entered a fourth week. Despite the allocation of 2.7 billion FCFA and other measures, they say they will only end the strike when all their grievances have been solved.

The United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, has revealed that over 3,200 schools remain closed in the Anglophone regions. The agency blamed the situation on the prevailing violence. It further revealed that some 210,000 school-aged kids are displaced within the North West and South West regions.
