Ngarbuh Massacre: How Did We Get Here? – Akere Muna Asks

One time presidential candidate, Barrister Akere Muna has added his voice to a series of condemnations following what gas come to be known as the Ngarbuh (also known as Ngar) massacre in Donga Mantung, Cameroon’s North West Region.

On his Twitter handle, Muna wrote:
“Ngar village, Donga Mantung – Suffering, death and killing are now the new normal”.

He continued that, “how did we get here where human life no longer has any value?” The politician asks. “We must all, now, genuinely seek for peace before this country loses its soul” adding that he is praying “for all the innocent victims”.

Many have raised concerns over the prolonged silence of the international community after 27 persons including women and children were killed by government soldiers in Ngar Friday, February 14th, 2020.

While some were shot dead, others were burnt to death inside their houses. The victims were buried in a mass grave amid results that some corpses are still to be found.

The latest happening, according to critics has elements of genocide which is being committed in the West African nation’s English-Speaking regions. The ongoing separatist conflict there has leftover 3000 dead with over one million displaced according to the United Nations and Crisis Group.
