Ni John Fru Ndi to quit SDF ‘chieftaincy’

The founding Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, has announced he will no longer run for the position of the chairman of the party during the next national elective convention of the party.

Ni John Fru Ndi in a press dinner in Yaounde Thursday, February 11th, 2021 told the press that “…it’s time to hand over leadership to young vibrant people with new ideas on how to move on with the political party and Cameroon “

Questioned if he has failed in his ambition to become the president of Cameroon, Ni John Fru Ndi says he and militants of the party have effectively contributed and are still contributing to the advancement of democracy in Cameroon by sending representatives to councils, national assembly, and the Senate. “…leadership is not just that Fru Ndi should be president of Cameroon,” he stated.

Ni John Fru Ndi to quit leadership at the helm of the party after 31 years. He has been the chairman since May 26th, 1990 when the SDF was founded in Bamenda thereby reintroducing multiparty politics in Cameroon.

The Social Democratic Front frowns at the high rate of the propagation of fake news in Cameroon. Speaking at the press dinner, Denis Nkemlemo, the first national communication secretary of SDF stated that there is a need for the press to combat fake news and help the population understand the truth of what is happening.
