Seun Aina, a 38-year-old bus driver has received a 25-year jail term by a court in Ikeja for domestic violence, sexual offenses, and raping of a 15-month-old baby.
The act for which the accused was sentenced happened in 2018 when he was 35 years old, and the baby in question was his neighbor’s, 15 months old daughter at the time, now 3 years old.
During the trial, the prosecution presented three witnesses including the Investigating Police Officer and a medical doctor to back up their case against the accused.
The case is seemingly one of the very many cases of reported child abuse in Nigeria since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Nigerian authorities have vowed to fight all forms of societal immorality, especially against children.
