Nine-year-old crowned new Fon of Baba 1 Fondom

By David Atangana

Baba 1, a Fondom in Babessi subdivision, Ngoketunja division of the North West region now has a new traditional ruler.

Fon Fue Nghaper II, who is nine years old was named early Monday, April 8, 2023.

He succeeds his father, Fon Fuekemshi II who went ‘missing’ Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

“We got a new Fon this morning after the official announcement of the ‘missing’ of the old Fon,” a source close to the palace of Baba 1 told MMI adding, “When a new Fon is announced, then the missing one must have rested.”

It should be recalled that following the demise of late Fon Fuekemshi II, administrative authorities of Ngoketunja division sealed Baba 1 palace stating that it will be as such “until the designation of the successor of late Fon Fuekemshi Melon Forchu in conformity with the rules and regulations in force”

The actions of the authorities were not well-received by indigenes of the North West Region, who took to social media to complain about the excessive interference in their traditional activities.

The Fondom will now transition into the era of a new dawn with the designation of a successor to the throne.
