Nkambe D.O revokes decision closing Ngie market after Fon of Njap’s plea

By David Atangana

Ngie market in Njap Village, Nkambe Central subdivision of Donga Mantung of North West region has been reopened.

This follows a decision taken by the civil administrator for Nkambe, lifting an earlier suspension of trading activities in the said market.

Ngida Lawrence Che, Divisional Officer for Nkambe on August 4,2022 suspended activities in Ngie market alleging that it was a joint for terrorists.

Following the suspension, the Fon of Njap in whose Fondom the market operates, wrote to the administration in an epistle dated October 20,2022 pleading for it’s reopening pledging adherence to collaboration with government authorities.

“I have the honour to write to your high office for the reopening of Ngie market in my Njap Village”,The Fon of Njap said in a letter to the D.O of Nkambe, which MMI obtained a copy.

The Fon promised that he, “… subchiefs, youths and the community as a whole will work in total collaboration with the administration to ensure security in Ngie quarter and Njap as a whole”

In response, the Divisional Officer heeded to the Fon’s plea lifting the suspension.

“With effect from the date of this decision,sub-prefectoral decision No47/SPD/E27/01/246/2022, bearing on the closure of Ngie market in Njap Village in Nkambe Central subdivision till further notice is hereby revoked”, said the D.O of Nkambe.
