Several individuals have suffered blast injuries, with one person having lost both limbs and another experiencing a blast to the face. A CT scan has been conducted, and a team of medical specialists, including a traumatologist and psychologist, have been mobilised to continue the treatment that was initiated in Nkambe.

While visiting the hospitalised victims, the North West governor, Adolf Lele Lafrique, took the time to personally reassure them that the Ministry of Public Health is working quickly to provide all necessary services to aid in their recovery process. Governor Lafrique emphasised, “All the medical personnel have been mobilised to give the necessary assistance for the recovery of the victims.”

Governor Lafrique further revealed that four individuals had been arrested in relation to the explosion. “Relative calm reigns in Nkambe despite the trauma the population now faces. As of today, 4 people have been remanded into custody,” declared the governor.

The arrest of these individuals represents a significant advancement in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the unfortunate incident, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

The arrest of the suspects offers a ray of hope for justice within the community of Nkambe and beyond, which is currently experiencing immense grief and devastation. The explosion has received strong condemnation from national and diplomatic missions.
