Locals of Nkwen in Bamenda metropolis have demanded the construction of a fly over bridge on the stream connecting Nkwen and the the rest of the town.
This follows persistent floods on the stream rendering movement impossible.
On Thursday September 15, 2022, it was again rendered inaccessible after a heavy downpour.
The current bridge on the stream is not helping matters according to local inhabitants.
“That is mile 4 nkwen and mile 3 again with floods due to heavy rains at the upper part of the river,” a local told MMI.
“Many who could not find a car to their various destinations due to ghost town imposed by separatist fighters are now facing another issue which is floods” the local added.
According to reports, that has been the situation of the area through out this rainy season. Authorities have however taken no step to deal with the situation.
Road users say a fly over bridge could remedy the situation.
“… A fly over bridge should be constructed in this particular area to remedy the situation for it is the main entrance into the city of Bamenda from four other divisions in the North West region of Cameroon” a road user recommended.
