Lele Lafrique, Governor of the NW Region of Cameroon
North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique has said separatist fighters fighting to create a nation they call Ambazonia don’t need to be told again today that they are on the wrong side of history.
Speaking at the 11th Ordinary session of North West Regional Assembly, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Lele Lafrique said they should all run to the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Center in Bamenda.
“It is a golden opportunity for each and every one of them to grab. They do not need to be told again today that they are on the wrong side of history, which history shall have no mercy on them if they do not drop their arms as soon as possible,” Lele said.
It should be noted that the creation of the DDR Center in Cameroon has also been a bone of contention.
Critics of the institution have always said the creation was not timely given that the war is still on.
However, the DDR center has received many separatist fighters who have dropped their weapons.
While at the center, many are used by government forces for their own gains, especially on the battlefield.
Some are given weapons to fight against their former partners in arms.
