North West: Menchum SDO survives assassination attempt

Abdoullahi Aliou, the Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum, in the North West Region of Cameroon, narrowly escaped an assassination planned by separatist fighters.

According to reports, the attack occurred on Friday October 21, 2022, around 6 pm. The government official and his convoy were said to be on their way to the SDO’s residence, from the mosque, when they were attacked.

The Menchum SDO came out of the attack untouched while some security officials escorting him incurred severe injuries.

The attack comes a few days after the residence of the Mayor of Wum was set on fire by separatist fighters.
