The Secretary number 2 of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Bahmbi Mathias Nju III says curses will be rained on all those who have carried guns against the state of Cameroon.
The traditional ruler of the Aghem people in Wum, Menchum Division, North West Region of Cameroon made the declaration Tuesday at the auditorium of the North West Regional Assembly during the 8th come-together of members.
“Curses will be the portion of all those who have taken up arms against Cameroon. This will be followed by cleansing of the land and anyone who jokes with this exercise will face the music. Our ancestors will be sent behind them,” he warned.
Population Strikes Back, Say Same Curses Will Befall Them
The threats from traditional authorites to lay a curse on all those fighting against the state of Cameroon has not gone down well with many. They say all what the Fons wish for them is what they too will get in return.
“The ancestors will first strike them for walking on the blood of their children to political glory. Any curse they rain on the people will fall back on them, ” Ngum Walters said.
To Ndifor Narthan, traditional leaders have failed to speak and defend their people:
“They have failed again, following government like sheep. They have the power to cause positive things to happen. Unfortunately, they have taken sides with government. Instead of sending ancestors behind others, they should plead with ancestors to secure their passage back to their palaces.”
There are those who think that the population was wrong to have seen the North West House of Chiefs as one of those institutions that came to arrest the Anglophone Crisis.
