Sammy Nforkemba, mayor of Misaje located in the Donga-Mantung Division of the North West Region has rejected and sealed a newly constructed slab due to poor construction.
A source disclosed to MMI that the slab was sealed on July 11, in Dumbu, the same day it was to be officially inaugurated by the Mayor.
“The mayor came to officially hand the slab on Monday 11 of this month. It was marked ‘XX’ and rejected by the mayor,” the source indicated.
The locals, including butchers of the neighborhood as well expressed discontentment vis-à-vis the poor construction of the slab.
According sources, the slab was characterized by “poor water drainage, weak and rough pillar and leakage during rainy season.”
The construction contract was reportedly handled by “a son of the Dumbu village, but since he is a councilor, even the mayor is afraid of him” indicated a source.
The mayor has however assured the population that a complaint would be forwarded to higher authorities.
