Notorious Ambazonian ‘General’, One Other Die in Own Explosion in Ndop

In Bamunka, Ngoketunjia Division, of the North West Region, shock and relief filled the atmosphere as a prominent self-styled Ambazonian general known as ‘General Miterand’ died alongside one of his associates due to their own explosives. The Senior Divisional Officer for Ngoketunjia Division, Quetong Handerson Konge, confirmed the incident that occurred on March 11, 2025, in Bamunka.

“Mitterrand and his associate George were planting an explosive to target the local population and the security forces; unfortunately, it exploded unexpectedly, killing them both,” the SDO said.

Officials later collected their remains, displaying General Mitterrand’s body publicly as a warning to others still engaged in the armed conflict.

Dr. Ntoh Daniel, the Mayor of Ndop, informed the crowd at the market, where the corpse was displayed, about his efforts to remove separatists from the bushes. “I personally called Mitterrand two days before this incident to drop his arms, but he did not,” the mayor said.

The Ngoketunjia administrative officers have reiterated the government’s stance, urging separatist fighters to lay down their weapons and take advantage of the reintegration programmes designed for those willing to abandon the armed struggle.

“I am still advising those still in the bushes to come out or face a similar fate like Mitterrand lying here. The DDR programme is there to come out and go to those centres,” Quetong said.

Ngoketunjia Division remains one of the most volatile areas in the ongoing Anglophone crisis, with separatist fighters frequently clashing with government forces, claiming control of some areas, enforcing blockades, and engaging in deadly confrontations.

Ambazonian general Mitterrand and George, shattered by their own explosives, lie buried at the council cemetery.
