Nouhou Tolo makes most MLS appearances

Cameroonian international Nouhou Tolo has broken the Major League Soccer (MLS) record for most appearances by a defender in the club’s history.
The Seattle Sounders left-back made his 157th appearance for the club in their recent match against the Portland Timbers.
Tolo, who is 26 years old, has been a key player for the Sounders since joining the club in 2016. He has helped them win two MLS Cups, two Supporters’ Shields, and the CONCACAF Champions League.
“It’s an honor to break this record,” Tolo said after the match. “I’ve been fortunate to play for a great club with great teammates, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue playing for the Sounders.”
Tolo is the first Cameroonian player to break an MLS record. He is also the first defender to break the record since Chad Marshall did so in 2019.
“Nouhou is a special player,” Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer said. “He’s a great defender, but he’s also a great person. He’s a leader in our locker room, and he’s a big reason why we’ve been successful.”
Tolo is expected to continue to play a key role for the Sounders in the years to come. He is under contract with the club through the 2025 season.
