NW Governor Reassures Population Bamenda Will Soon Get Befitting Stadium

By Timfuchi Aaron

The Governor of the North West region, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique has reassured the population of his administrative unit that, a befitting stadium would soon be constructed in Bamenda.

He gave the assurance yesterday. This was on the occasion of the homecoming of the winners of the 2021 Cup of Cameroon, PWD of Bamenda.

Adolphe Lele Afrique acknowledged that the region has a shambolic sporting infrastructure. He promised that the Bamenda Municipal Stadium will soon be constructed.

“After the final, the Prime Minister invited me for a meeting where we discussed not only the issue of the stadium but the issue of the road. Everything is soon going to start”, the governor said.

The Bamenda Municipal Stadium was supposed to have been completed in September 2016 but works were suspended on accounts of limited finances from FECAFOOT.
A1Ben Modo who was in charge of the construction said limited funding obliged the company to stop work.

Meanwhile, football promoters in the North West have baptized the Cameroon Cup trophy won by PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda as the cup of Salvation.
The administrators of the North West region who welcomed the team back home indicated that the performance of the Abakwa Boys marks a turning point in the football history of the region.

At the glimpse of the PWD Bus descending from Mile One Junction, the excitement was too much from those who turned out to welcome the team. They proceeded from Up Station to the Bamenda Commercial Avenue grandstand.

At the grandstand, PWDs President Pascal Abunde promised the population more joyful days ahead.

“Things will only get better from here”, he said.

The return of PWD to Bamenda also marks the 10th anniversary of Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique as governor of the North West region who has counted PWD’s victory as one of his achievements.
