NW governor urges protesting women to collaborate with authorities in combatting atrocities

Protesters in Bamenda have returned to their homes after meeting North West governor, Lele L’Afrique.

Addressing the protesters at his office, the civil administrator urged them to denounce unlawful and indiscriminate killings.

He also encouraged them to beat fear and send their kids to school noting that peace is a collective action.

He told the protesters to work hand in glove with authorities in ensuring that what happened in kumba should not happen in Bamenda.

Noting that it was not the first time kids were killed or the first time he was receiving the protesting women, governor Lele said it was time to stand up and say “enough is enough”

The governor made the address after a crowd made of mostly women marched through the town and up to his office, decrying the barbaric school shooting in Kumba, South West region over the weekend.

Bamenda it should be recalled has had its own fair share of atrocities since the Anglophone crisis started in 2016, with some of the most gruesome being beheadings and other despicable acts.

Today’s protests in the town followed those in Yaounde and Douala yesterday as women urged government to bring an end to the four-year-long war.
