NW/SW Restoration forces ‘decree’ double lockdown in September.

Ground Zero Defense Council and Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF) have announced two lockdowns in the North West and South West of Cameroon from the 2nd to the 6th and from the 9th to the 13th of September 2019.

In two separate releases signed Wednesday 14th August 2019, generals and commanders of the groups have stated the following reasons for the decision:

No school resumption in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon for the 2019/2020 school year. To the fighters, the environment is not conducive enough for children to go to school. They called on President Paul Biya to call to an end to the war he declared on the 30th of November 2017.
Secondly, forces fighting for the independence of southern Cameroon accuse the military of haven burnt many schools and houses in towns and villages in the thirteen divisions that make up the north west and the south west regions.
Due to this, most children of school age have taken refuge in bushes and cannot return to school.
By acknowledging that commercial motorcycling is the principal means of transport in the Anglophone regions, the fighters say the military has set ablaze most of the motorcycles and therefore school children in the North West and south west no longer have a means of transportation to and from school.
They call on troops occupying the regions to be withdrawn to create an enabling studying environment for students and pupils.
The releases warned particularly owners of transport agencies who will dare to violate the decision. They have invited people to stockpile their houses with food items and other basic necessities that may help them survive during the lockdown.
Note that the government of Cameroon and other nongovernmental organizations have been campaigning for effective school resumption after three years of boycott.
