One Die From Suspected IED Explosion in Bamenda

By Soulemanu Bubu

Security operatives in Bamenda, the chief town of the North West Region of Cameroon are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a man after an explosive device went off in his home.

The incident that happened Wednesday, July 19 2023 is still the talk of the town as many are yet to understand how it all happened.

According to a witness in the old town where the incident took place, the deceased might have brought a bag home thinking he was carrying metals for sale not knowing the content was dangerous.

“He usually goes out in search of metals to sell and make a living. He brought a bag home not knowing he was carrying something dangerous. The bag exploded this morning leaving him dead,” said Ali, a witness.

The body of the victim was later placed at the Regional Hospital Mortuary in Bamenda pending burial arrangements.

Bamenda has been in the news recently after separatists killed 10 civilians in Nacho, a neighbourhood of the town.
