One killed, two wounded as soldiers open fire in Boyo

Mbesa, a village in Boyo division is the latest theatre of military action in the North West region of Cameroon.

Mimi Mefo Info is informed that an operation by the forces of law and order has resulted in civilian casualties.

“Military men invaded Mbesa today shot one civilian dead and wounded two” a source confirms.

Their first target, the source adds, “was a welder’s workshop. The welder is accused of producing rods which amba boys used in their locally made guns.”

The attack locals say, was unprecedented as activities of separatist fighters in the area had drastically reduced. A source says “it took us as a surprise because Amba boys are not even serious here.”

Close to Oku, village of former PM, Yang Philemon, “this is the second time they have invaded Mbesa.”

Today’s incident in Mbessa is a reflection of daily happenings in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions for close to four years today. Separatist fighters and soldiers often exchange blames over human rights abuses and extra judicial killings in the regions, but have failed to come to a compromise or at least a ceasefire deal.

Thousands are reported dead, and hundreds of thousands more remain displaced by the fighting.
