Our company still pays us below minimum wage – People’s Voice (PV)

Good Morning to the Mimi Mefo Team and thanks for being the voice of the people.

I write to express my worry about the Inability of the government to compel companies to respect the new minimum wage set by the government in Cameroon.

Since the minimum wage was increased by the prime minister early this year, The company where I work is yet to increase our pay. They still respect the 37 000FCFA minimum wage when calculating our pay.

When asked on when the minimum wage will be increased, we were told the State asked them to do so when they feel as to.

Workers of Ok Foods Cameroon are threatening to go on strike because of this and I pray the government does something to compel all companies to respect the minimum wage prescribed by the State for the benefit of its workers.
