PAP SG, Fabrice Lena, ally, released

Fabrice Lena, Secretary General of the Popular Action Party (PAP), has regained his freedom after being arrested on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

He was released alongside political Ally, Aboubakar Sidiki, president of the Patriotic Movement for Cameroonian Salvation (MPSC) party, with whom he was picked up in Douala.

“It is disheartening to be in a country where two leaders of a political party cannot hold a private meeting with 30 to 50 members of their cabinet or even have a convoy to exercise basic political rights,” Lena remarked following his release.

Some of his supporters, he said, were brutalised “as they got emotional over our arrest, in a verbal confrontation with the police and gendarmes at Bonasama, Bonabéri, and Douala, Cameroon.”

Lena and Sidiki, too, the politician stated, got manhandled by the forces of law and order.

“I personally appreciate the timely intervention of human rights friends, lawyers, international partners, and promoters of freedom of speech and democracy,” Lena added.

Lena it should be noted, has been a fierce critic of the Biya regime over the years.
