Partially burnt corpse scares residents in Bamenda neighbourhood


The discovery of a partially burnt corpse at sunrise Friday January 28 around the City Chemist Roundabout in Bamenda, Mezam division of Cameroon’s conflict-hit North West region has left residents in panic.


Security forces surfaced around the scene of the discovery, stopping locals from taking pictures of the corpse. Some said they visited the area to know if the corpse is that of a relative or an acquaintance.

MMI could not ascertain other suggestions from some persons that, the person dead may be a security officer, reason forces of law and order cordoned the spot.


In other circumstances, when security forces kill suspected Amba fighters, they parade the corpse. The usually allow locals and the media to access the scene and film the corpse.
