PHIHTBS Limbe Expands into Tech, Business Programs After Years of Excellence in Biomedical Sciences

The Presbyterian Higher Institute of Health, Technology and Business Studies (PHIHTBS) Limbe now runs programmes in Business, Electrical Engineering, Management, and Computer Engineering, after years of excellence in training healthcare professionals.

The program expansion follows a landmark agreement signed with the University of Buea, authorising the institution to run these programmes.

The agreement signals a new chapter for the institution, which has been operating its biomedical department since 2021 as a department under the Presbyterian Church-owned Cameroon Christian University Institute Bamenda.

PHIHTBS Limbe has been running mainly biomedical programmes, including the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nursing and a Top-up BSc in Nursing.

Now, with the newly signed MoU with UB, PHIHTBS Limbe is expanding its reach into new academic territories. The institution will now offer programmes in Business, Electrical Engineering, Management, and Computer Engineering, with a one-year top-up programme designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills.

A Legacy of Excellence in Biomedical Sciences

PHIHTBS Limbe is venturing into other fields after years of excellence in training biomedical science experts.

Since 2021, the school has graduated more than 500 students in the School of Biomedical Sciences, recording outstanding results, including a 100 percent pass rate in HND, and 90 percent, 98 percent, and 97 percent pass rates in other cohorts.

The school’s faculty is composed mainly of health practitioners from the Limbe Regional Hospital, the University of Buea, Bota Hospital Limbe, and other private health facilities in the region. This ensures that students receive practical, hands-on training from professionals actively working in the field.

The institution also maintains a permanent administrative staff, with the Director as the head of the school, overseeing daily affairs, the academic department, the finance department, and other units.

A Church Committed to Education and Excellence

PHIHTBS Limbe is owned by the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, under the leadership of the current Moderator, the Right Rev. Miki Hans Abia, who also serves as the proprietor of the church’s schools.

His vision and mission are centred on “Strengthening and Edifying” (S&E).

The church continues to march forward, encouraging learning, bringing education to the people of Limbe, and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through academics.

In a gesture of support for its Christian community and to encourage merit and hard work, the PCC employs the overall three best students from every graduating batch into its health facilities scattered across Cameroon.

Admission Requirements

For HND/BSc.

• Pass in at least two (2) Advance Level subjects in one sitting and at least 4 Ordinary Level papers.

For Bachelor of Nursing Science

• Have an HND in Nursing.

For BSc. Programs

• HND in Business programs
