A Cameroonian philanthropist, Dr Mubang Joseph, has offered the sum of 1 million FCFA as support for 8 teams who are to compete at the North West Mini-interpools football tournament.
The money was handed over to the the North West Regional League president, Mbigha Félix. He in turn handed it over to the various teams concerned.
Each team obtained the sum of 100,000 francs meanwhile the winners of the two games, Universal forces Academy and Bafmeng United obtained the sum of 200,000 francs CFA.
While addressing the teams, the US based Dr Mubang made series of promises, amongst which was the provision of scholarships or sponsorship of players’ trades and health insurance for the teams.
Applauding this gesture, Mbigha Félix noted that “I am proud and happy to have one of our elites in the North West region coming back to support grassroot football in the region. Football is a unifying factor and Dr Mubang as a peacemaker knows foot ball can bring peace in the region.”
Dr Mubang reassured the teams of a future support of 5 million francs which will be donated in the next football season.
