Philemon Yang, Cameroon’s former Prime Minister, has been sworn in as the President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday at the UN headquarters in New York, USA.
Yang was elected to the position by acclamation several months ago, succeeding Dennis Francis.
As the first Cameroonian to hold this prestigious role, Yang has pledged to prioritize peace and the advancement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during his tenure.
