Popular Buea Journalist Joseph Weno appointed Dash Radio Station Manager

By Tata Mbunwe

Popular Journalist, radio host and master of ceremonies, Joseph Weno, has been appointed Station Manager at Dash FM, formerly called MediaAfrique Radio, in Buea.

The appointment, effective January 1, 2024, was made by Dash FM’s owner, Bony Dashaco, marking a significant transition for the renowned journalist.

Joseph Weno, recognized for his eloquence and elegance, steps into the managerial position, succeeding Siy Chantal Ndowah, who served as the Interim Station Manager since December 14, 2023.

Ndowah has been appointed Director of Programmes at the radio station.

Weno, currently associated with Dream FM, a well-established Buea-based radio station, brings a wealth of experience to Dash FM.

Weno’s journey with the radio station has been intertwined with its evolution, having been a crucial part of MediaAfrique, the former identity of Dash FM.

He left from MediaAfrique last year while the radio station underwent reforms, which included a change in the station’s name to Dash Radio.

Previously, Weno held the position of Programmes Director at MediaAfrique for several years, demonstrating his prowess in media management.

His on-air presence was felt through hosting the flagship morning show, “Rise and Shine,” and co-hosting the pidgin news program, “Ngumba House,” where he delved into critical examinations of social and political issues.

With a journalistic career spanning years, Weno has been a dedicated advocate for issues related to the law, human rights, corruption, and criminality.

His commitment and mastery of the microphone have earned him not only a household name status but also established him as a trusted journalistic figure in Buea and beyond.

Weno’s return to Dash FM signifies a homecoming, as he previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of the radio station in 2016.

The seasoned journalist is expected to bring his comprehensive experience in journalism and media management to lead Dash FM into a new era.
