Post election insecurity: newly elected Mbengwi mayor spends second night in Kidnapper’s den

Many have been taken aback following the kidnap of the newly elected mayor of Mbengwi of the North West region.

Mayor Ndangsa Kennedy was picked up by suspected restoration forces yesterday reports note.

Coming weeks after the February twin elections, his kidnap has been linked to the mayor’s political involvement.

Ahead of the elections, separatists in the North West and South West regions had called for a boycott, calling the election a non event.

Several Anglophone politicians were kidnapped ahead of the polls, as other received threats to cease involvement in political activities.

Days back, the constitutional council called for a rerun of the elections in 11 constituencies in the North West and South West regions, citing irregularities.

With the kidnap of politicians still ongoing, many believe the election is far from being the solution to the crisis that has rocked the regions for over three years today.
