Mbile Tapea Solomon has been appointed general manager of agro-industrial company , PAMOL.
The former head of technical service at Cameroon Development Cooperation, CDC replaces Chief Mekanya Okon Charles.
Meanwhile Donatus Asu has been named deputy general manager of same company . He replaces Chief Asanga Allloysius Akom.
They were Appointed during a board meeting in Limbe Wednesday October 7th 2020 Co presided by the board chair of PAMOL, Bernard Okalia Bilia and the minister of agriculture and rural development, Gabriel Mbairobe.
The new management amongst other things has the Challenge of revamping PAMOL Plantations.
The plantations have been partly abandoned since the beginning of the anglophone crisis.
Most workers of the company have abandoned work given frequent attacks from separatist fighters that accused them of working for the regime of president they consider is not a legitimate leader of the people of Southern Cameroon. Agricultural products from PAMOL have often been confiscated by the fighters and set ablaze alongside production installations. Actions considered economic sabotage aimed at crippling the economy of Cameroon.
All these have greatly reduced the production of the plantations with high risk of an eventual collapse according to some observers.
It is at this stage that Mbile Tapea Solomon will not only showcase managerial expertise but will have to find a thin way out to provide security for the workers to permit them work in the company.
PAMOL was inaugurated on the 14th of April 1967 in Lobe by Cameroon’s first president Amadou Ahidjo. Then it was own by the British but finally became a parapublic company in 1996.
