Meeting over the weekend in Bamenda, stakeholders of the follow-up committee charged with ensuring the proper realization of projects executed with public funds in Mezam, evaluated and rate the realization of projects in the Mezam division at slightly above 90%.
During the 4th quarterly participatory session, the MEZAM divisional delegate for MINEPAT Evelyn Mawong revealed that of the 117 projects allocated Mezam division for 2021, 90 had been completely executed, with 22 ongoing and 5 not yet started.
Tubah council ranked 1st in terms of project execution, followed by Bafut and the city council of Bamenda that also realized their projects at 100% through the city council had just one project.
Accepting insecurity as a hindrance towards realizing certain projects in enclaved areas, the follow-up chairperson was not satisfied with the excuse given by those in green areas for not meeting their target, considering PIB projects are meant to benefit and satisfy the aspirations of members of their immediate localities.
To regain its place as the 1st in terms of project realization amongst divisions in the region, the cardholders were told to work in synergy and to follow up with contractors to deliver their projects on time.
Members of the follow-up team were also tasked to respect the stipulations of the project logbook this year so to not just to deliver in project execution, but to do so in record time.
A duration of two weeks was given for those who haven’t finished 2021 projects to do so latest mid-February.
